Bassnectar signs with OM Records for Spring 2007 Release

YEAH!

im so excited to formally and officially announce (what has been in the works for many moons) that i have signed with OM RECORDS to produce several full length musical explusions, focusing on a hybrid blending of bassmusic for dancefloors and sonic experimentia for dreamfloors, all twisted up with hyphop influence and the madness of
my mind [and the minds of my friends!]

So the first full length is "UNDERGROUND COMMUNICATION" - due out March 20, 2007. A fistfull of brand new full length spectrum-spanning concoctions from melodic hyp hop bassed freestyle beats, to propper filthy midtempo grinders, to expressive dreamtempo adventures.

My biggest inspirations for this collection were twofold.

1. The Philosophical Concepts of 'Indy Media', 'Net Neutrality', 'Community Organizing, Networking', and all aspects of a return to human sentiment through empathy with a fearless commitment to grassroots subversion and resistance.

2. A re-exploration of 'hip hop' potential as a form of musical revolution. Coming from a background that had very little to do with the initial movements of hip hop, and feeling extremely alienated from the current perspectives on it, i wanted to examine what potential i saw in its basic form of the voice of oppressed people, shouted
rythmically over a defiant, intimidating broken beat. When i think about Public Enemy, and then i see shit like Little John, or whatever... the discrepency kills me. Watching the videos and seeing the imagery and where it has gone, ... (not to glorify anything uneccissarrillyy, as i wont claim to be extremely knowlegeble on any exact particulars of the genre that began before i was born.... but overall stabbing at the Corporately-owned and -manipulated absurdity that is rap music today, and reaching towards a possibility of something different... in an imaginary world
without Clear Channel foolishness)

ok, we have a 3 part approach to controlling this Rap Music Monster:
guns, drugs and money. Give them all three, and let them be distracted accordingly, until our prisons or overflowing, and the only rappers who sruvive financially are watered down enough that they will be desperate or unconscious enough to play this odd Torso-rock, Gold-fanged, Shiny-object Distraction Ceremony of Ass-thrust and
Gun-waving.

anyhow, i digress, more later, but anyhow, UNDERGROUND COMMUNICATION is me, a scrawny whiteboy making no claims of anything other than enthusiasm, (and various friends, associates, and Bassnectar Labs scientists and cohorts) playing around with the genre, and seeing where we end up.

SET YOURSELF APART, not only in terms of what you actively can and will do, ...but
in terms of TRUST.

So if Pelosi comes up and says she swears never to take a bribe, never to do this or
that, and IN A TRANSPARENT WAY disempowers all politicians including herself from
corruption, then she can lead by example in a manner that disallowes secrecy, etc.

By failing to have a blemish or fault, she has every right to call out the Bush
administration on anything she wants...

start with Cheney's secret Eneergy Task force and go from there.
