free workshops on remixing and laptop production

Ok, as with all stories there is the long and the short version.

the short version:
APPLY RIGHT NOW! im teaching free classes, 5 day workshop:
www.redbullmusiclabs.com
Last chance before the program ends.

the long version:
i went to college thinking i'd end up being a teacher or a youth counselor. Started to major in psych, then sociology, but music was sweeping me up, and i had less and less time. I got a minor in education and in electronic music and created a major through UC Santa Cruz's community studies program, which centered around a 9 month full time field study at the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Hall and the surrounding schools and group homes.

It was called Community Rythms and taught drumming, poetry as "hip hop", DJing, production, etc...

A few years after graduating, as i ended up DJing for some red bull events around SF, my friend Kurt (who since meeting him had landed a job at red bull doing cultural marketting, which is in a sense DEEP COVER OPS to throw fat parties) and i got into talking about college, and when i mentioned the program, and how i loved DJing, but wished i was teaching, he offered to help start a program through red bull that was teaching DJing in SF.

I suggested instead of DJing, maybe we make it about production, and ...welll to get to the point the last 6 years have been a blast. We've gone all over the country and rocked the 5 day course, for FREE, to 10 students at a time.

The class goes over electronic music production, but it open to rap, hip hop, rock, experimental, and most inportantly Christian Jazz. no just kidding. anyhow, we cover several programs, focusing on REASON, which is a killer virtual music studio and a great way to get started, and to go deep. Motions Of Mustation was made almost entirely on Reason.

Anyhow, we have only TWO CITIES LEFT, ....
Raleigh, North Carolina and.. the final round back in SAN FRANCISCO.

Raleigh's deadline is this friday for apps, and San Fran is coming up to.

go here:
www.redbullmusiclabs.com to apply

essentially, this program is for:

-DJs who wanna make their own beats and remixes
-musicians who want to open up to electronic production
-MCs with some music skill who wanna make their own beats
-producers who use Fruity Loops, or who fool around with friends in studios but arent comfortable on their own yet

anyhow, its fully intensive and runs full time Wed through sunday 5 days straight... myself, Craig (Sayr) and Dave Jolley are the instructors, and its an awesome gift to be able to give back to the community... big ups to red bull for rockin this joint!!!!!

tons of love!
